1961年から1991年まで、L.A.の音楽業界で CONSOLIDATED PRODUCTIONS を運営してきた MEL ALEXANDER。20世紀における黒人所有で最も長く続いた独立系レコード複合レーベルは73曲のオリジナル曲を制作。この「CONSOLIDATED PRODUCTIONS VOL.1」には LEE HARVEY、B.B. CARTER、MARILYN CALLOWAY、DEL REYS、DEB TONES、DE VELLES、GENE RUSSELL'S TRIO、JIMMY "PREACHER" ELLIS、TY KARIM などのアーティストによる28曲を厳選して収録。オリジナルテープからリマスターされた音源に加え、プロデューサーによる解説と、ディスコグラフィーや写真も収録されています。
